Most people think that life just happens…
But in reality, life is a perfect reflection of what we continue to think about, focus on, and believe.
And it’s a choice. YOU get to decide.
Rebel Rule #1 is “I have decided to make an impact on the world NO MATTER WHAT.”
It doesn’t begin with “I hope I can” or “Maybe someday I’ll get a chance.”
It begins with “I have decided,” which means YOU get to decide on what YOU want to contribute in this lifetime.
Napoleon Hill says, “We are the masters of our fate and the captains of our souls because we have the power to control our thoughts.”
We also, therefore, have the power to control our beliefs…
Because a belief is just a thought we continue to think, and we can choose to think different thoughts.
See, one of the challenges for human kind, as the Buddhists like to remind us, is that we believe things are the way in which they appear.
But usually they are not…
And usually they’re not true…
They’re only true because we make them true through our thoughts.
The old adage comes to mind...
Whether you believe something’s true or believe something’s not true… you’re right.
Why not choose to believe what best serves you rather than what limits your potential?
This is called a Limiting Belief, but I call them Lethal Beliefs because most of the time they kill your dreams.
You can, however, kill your Lethal Beliefs by beginning to believe a New Truth—the truth you’ve decided to start believing instead.
This is what I do:
I list my Lethal Beliefs, and then after each one, I write out the New Truths.
For example, here are some of my old Lethal Beliefs, which mostly relate to time and ultimately keep me from taking action:
Conditions have to be perfect for me to take action.
Later is a better time to try—tomorrow, Monday, next week, next month.
I don’t have enough time.
Everything else gets in the way of what I need to get done.
If my energy is low, I can’t work on important things.
Now here are my New Truths following the Old Lethal Beliefs:
Conditions have to be perfect for me to take action…
→ I TAKE ACTION NO MATTER WHAT—DONE IS MUCH BETTER THAN PERFECT!
Later is a better time to try—tomorrow, Monday, next week, next month…
→ NOW IS THE BEST TIME AND THE ONLY TIME!
I don’t have enough time…
→ I HAVE TIME, AND I MAKE TIME!
Everything else gets in the way of what I need to get done…
→ EVERY THOUGHT AND ACTION MOVES ME TOWARD MY GOAL!
If my energy is low, I can’t work on important things…
→ I AM CONSISTENTLY PRODUCTIVE REGARDLESS OF ENERGY OR ANYTHING ELSE!
With these New Truths I begin to train my brain to realize and remember what I want to believe about me before the fear-based, negative thoughts and beliefs can set in (everything I must rebel against).
And I do so with repetition…
Since the New Truths are powerful affirmations, I read them over and over again with energy and emotional intensity during my daily morning practice.
Then, as I continue to speak my New Truths, what happens is eventually my subconscious mind believes what I’m saying…
And once that happens, it goes to work to make it a reality!
